Dave Mantle BDS GDC no 68109. Special Interest: Root Canal Therapy.

David qualified from Birmingham University in 1992, and has worked in general practice and hospital surgery departments for a number of years. He has a wide experience in dental procedures having completed two years postgraduate training with world recognized dentist Paul Tipton in Manchester. He is a member of the British Dental Association and the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners at the Royal College of Surgeons. He has a particular interest in root canal treatment, which involves the painless management and removal of infection in and around teeth. Since becoming the practice owner in 2001 he has been the driving force behind Smilecares' philosophy of providing high-tech dentistry in a relaxed and happy environment. He likes the surgeries to be equiped with the latest gadgets, and a popular one for patients is the videoglasses, where they can watch a DVD of their choice while having treatment. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and he is always on the search for more innovative technology to make your dental experience more enjoyable. Outside the practice David enjoys family life in Chiswick with his wife and two young daughters as well as competing in triathlon and marathon events. His toughest challenge to date was running The Marathon des Sables in aid of the Shooting Stars Hospice.

 

Oliver Quinn BDS MClinDent (Pros) GDC no 83869. Specialist Prosthodontist, this is the repair and replacement of lost or damaged teeth.  Oliver has a special interest in Implants.

Oliver qualified from Guy's Kings & St Thomas Dental Institute and went on to qualify as a specialist dentist with distinction in Prosthodontics at The Eastman Dental Institute.  Prosthodontics is the study of all advanced dental restorations from Implants to complex crown & bridges.   So Oliver's specialist areas of interest are: Implants, aesthetic dentistry, rebuilding broken and worn dentition to a more aesthetic and functional outcome as well as complex crown, bridge and denture cases.  His depth of knowledge allows him to chat with his patients about choices with their dental care.  With an Irish background, Oliver is a keen rugby player and supporter of London Irish rugby.

 

Sarovi Drone BDS MFDS RCS Eng MSc GDC no 81111. Special Interest: Periodontal Therapy.

Sarovi qualified from United Medical and Dental Schools, London in 2002. After her vocational training, she went on to become a Senior House Officer in the Maxilofacial Surgery unit at Luton Dunstable Hospital. During her time there she completed her MFDS examinations and won the annual Junior Papers Day, awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons. She has spent the last seven years practicing at Smilecare and divides her time between general practice, teaching and has completed a part-time MSc in Conservative dentistry at The Eastman Dental Institute. She has always had a keen interest in periodontology and, having attended many post graduate courses on the subject, chose a periodontics special module as part of her masters programe. She enjoys ballet and modern dance.

 

 

Panos Zanelis BDS MFDS RCS (Eng) MSc GDC no 86163. Special interest: the prevention of tooth wear and conservative restorations.

Panos

Panos qualified from Kings College Dental School in 2005, after working as a Senior House Officer in the maxillofacial and oral surgery department at Ipswich hospital, he then went on to do a part time specialist prosthodontics programme to build on his knowledge of conservative restorative care and the prevention of tooth wear.  Panos joined Smilecare in 2015 and is very popular with nervous patients as he has a naturally calm and reassuring manner.  Outside of the practice, Panos enjoys cycling, running and live music.

Emily & Maria are our regular hygienists. They enjoy using the latest ultra-sonic scaling to ensure patients have a great hygiene visit, and they offer anaesthetic gel to ensure a comfortable experience, along with ipod tunes to listen to.

Jola, Anna & Daria are qualified nursing staff registered with the General Dental Council, and we are proud to invest in their continuing education as they are an integral part of the clinical team. They are instrumental in ensuring that your experience at Smilecare is one that is comfortable and one that you would happily recommend to your friends. Without their support Smilecare would be the same as every other practice.

Smilecare Dental Clinic takes great care to protect the personal data we hold for you in line with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Legal basis for processing data held about patients

The GDPR requires us to state the legal basis upon which we process all personal data for our patients and it requires us to inform you of the legal basis on which we process your personal data.

The legal basis on which we process personal information for our patients is in accordance with the dental professionals regulatory bodies: The General Dental Council www.standards.gdc-uk.org, and the Care Quality Commission www.cqc.org.uk/dental-care-records.

Automated decision making

What is automated decision making? It is a process whereby you are asked to opt in once to certain processes, these processes will vary from one dental clinic to another, as some dental clinics want to send marketing information to their patients. At Smilecare Dental Clinic we DO NOT send any marketing information, we will only send appointment reminders and relevant information about recommended treatments.

At Smilecare Dental Clinic, we have the following processes when you register that are part of automated decision making:

  1. How you would like to be reminded about the recommended frequency of dental appointments, such as routine check up and dental hygiene care. You can select on your registration forms to be reminded by text, email and or postal reminder. It is our duty of care to remind you of preventative care frequency, it is also your right to request no appointment reminders.

  2. Retaining up to date and accurate dental records. At the point of registering we will create a dental record and ensure it is kept up to date and secure. We have a legal duty to retain dental records for a minimum of 11 years or up to the age of 25 years. You have the right to request that we delete your dental records, in which case we will need to consult with the dental regulatory body: The General Dental Council.

Non Automated decision making, i.e. Specific Patient Informed Consent

For all other processes at Smilecare we will always obtain specific informed consent:

  1. Any recommended treatment, this will be verbally explained by the dentist and then written information will be provided and further discussions if necessary until the patient is fully informed about any options, likely success rates and costs.

  2. Sharing patient information with a specialist or hospital for specialist care, patients will need to specifically consent to the information being provided.

Complaints

You have a right to complain about how we process your personal data. All complaints concerning personal data should be made in person or in writing to David Mantle. All complaints will be dealt with in line with the practice complaints policy and procedures.

Transferring personal data outside the EU

All patient information is backed up within the practice to a separate drive, in case of fire a second copy is backed up to a company called Carbonite Inc, 2 Avenue de la Lafayette, Boston MA 02111. They are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachsetts and/or Federal Law. In accordance with European Laws, all data will be held under the EU-US and Swiss-US Privacy Shield Framework as set forth by the US Department of Commerce. Carbonite complies with all of the Privacy Shield Principles and if there is any conflict between the terms of privacy policies, then the EU-US and Swiss Privacy Shield Principles shall govern.
