Budget for your Essential Dental Care

At Smilecare we have introduced a monthly payment plan to help budget for your preventative dental care (check up and hygiene care). The advantage of the plan is that it is an easy way of paying for check ups and hygienist appointments throughout the year.

“I like the dental health plan, it makes me come in regularly to see the dentist, so problems don’t build up”  MR

Frequently Asked Questions

Exactly how much will I pay on the plan?

The exact health plan monthly payment will be confirmed at your first hygienist appointment, we find most patients need a plan of £24.33 a month which allows for 2 examinations per year and 2 (45 minute) hygienist appointments per year. Some patients find they need to go on the higher plan for 6 months at £32.03 (with 4 monthly hygiene) and then once their hygiene care has been optimised go down to £24.33 per month.

What is NOT included on the plan?

  • New patient examination and first hygiene appointment, unless there is an existing family member on the plan
  • Diagnostic appointment separate from routine check-up to investigate pain or discomfort £170
  • Periapical x-ray for diagnosing pain, checking heavily restored teeth or periodontal investigation £18
  • Fluoride varnish application £25
  • Antibiotics dispensed at the practice or prescription for any medication £20.00
  • 15% discount on treatments does not apply to Root Canal treatment, periodontal treatments, Implants, and laboratory fees, eg for crowns, bridges, denture and splints.

How much will I save compared to paying as I go for check up and hygiene care?

The main focus of the health plan is for patients to budget on a monthly basis for essential preventative dental care. There are some small savings to be made, as there is no charge for *bite-wing screening x-rays on the health plan, these savings range from £10 to £60 per year. *NB bite-wing screening x-rays are included on the plan, if periapical xrays are needed to diagnose pain or periodontal care, these x-rays are at an additional fee of £18 per x-ray.

What happens if I don't make it in for my check up or hygiene under the plan?

This is why some patients like to join the plan as it makes them come in for their check up and hygienist care. If you are behind we will contact you and chat about how to best catch up, (patients sometimes need extra hygiene care, or we reduce the direct debit down until the patient has caught up with their preventative care).

Did you know patients on our health plan are 40% less likely to need any dental treatment?

We have audited our own patient data and found it does pay to be on our plan. The reason is that our health plan patients see us so regularly for exams and hygienist care that there are significantly fewer problems that build up.
